Important Information
We are
your one source for easy peace of mind...
Secure Storage Containers LLC uses semi tractors with a roll-off
trailer or tilt bed to slide your container off at your desired
location. Be sure to keep the following in mind when ordering your
container:
-
Access point –
Unless you request otherwise, your container will be loaded with
the access doors towards the front of the truck, and will be
off-loaded "back in" at your location for easy access.
-
Road surface –
Because of the weight of the tractor and trailer, we are only
able to deliver containers where surfaces are paved or
hard-packed.
-
Container
support – Containers are designed to be supported by each of
the four corners by a concrete footing, railroad tie, asphalt or
a bed of gravel. It is possible to place the container directly
on the ground, but the optimal location will have stability to
keep the container level and allow for adequate drainage.
-
Site size –
For each 8' x 20' container, you will need a minimum site size
of 15' wide and 50' long.
-
Truck
maneuvering space – Because the container slides off the
back of the truck, you will need at least 120 feet of space in
front of where the container will be placed.
-
Overhead
clearance – A minimum of 14' of overhead clearance is
required to the delivery site to accommodate the height of the
tractor and container. At least 20 feet of overhead clearance at
the site the container will be placed, to accommodate the
container as it is tilted off the trailer.
-
Door alignment
– Because containers can weigh 5000 lbs or more, there is
occasionally some settling after placement, and it is possible
the container doors may be difficult to operate. This can be
remedied by adding support to the settled corner. The container
can be lifted with a small forklift, a hydraulic jack, or a
wheeled steel lever. We can help you arrange for the rental or
purchase, at your cost, of one or more of these items.
-
Local
regulations – Check with your local building department
before ordering a container. Most, but not all, jurisdictions
consider a container a temporary structure and are therefore
exempt from permitting requirements and other standards for
permanent structures. If you are placing the container in a
residential area, and there may be an impact on your neighbors,
you may want to speak with them first.
-
Container
moves – If you need a container moved from one location to
another, please ensure it has been emptied completely, since we
use roll-off trailers and tilt bed trucks. We expressly disclaim
responsibility for any contents damaged during transit.
